Puahiri Park Restoration
Jun 15, 2025
Come and join Sustainable Glenorchy in our ongoing efforts to turn this small but scenic council park into something truly beautiful.
So far we have cut back some of the pine trees, broom and blackberry and freed up some of the heritage apple and pear trees, and can now see glimpses of a very pretty rocky creek running down the hill.
We would love to have more hands on deck, as those weeds have had their way for too long.
Where: About 4km on the left along the road north from Glenorchy to the
Routeburn. There's a stand of poplars just before you get to a grassy
area.
When: Saturday 28 June
1030am start (finish by 12-1230pm)
Why: Feel good about doing something for our community
Get to hang out with some other locals
What to bring:
● Family and friends
● Gloves
● Sturdy clothing (there is plenty of blackberry!)
● Tools: choose what you need based on whether you prefer
grubbing out blackberry or cutting down broom, pine trees or
clearing tracks
● If you have one, a high-vis vest
What's provided:
● Good company
How it works:
● When you arrive, we'll decide by mutual agreement which area(s)
you and/or your group will manage, and off you go.
