**UPDATE 19-2-21** Good news, the Otago Regional Council has given the all clear, confirming that the results came back negative for potentially toxic algae. __ The Otago Regional Council has contacted us about an unconfirmed sighting of potentially toxic algae at the Glenorchy Wharf which they are investigating now. Toxic algae can cause skin rashes and tummy upsets in humans and it can be lethal for our four legged friends. For that reason we recommend that people and dogs stay out of the water until the team can establish whether there is a health risk. We’ll update this post as soon as ORC has more information. In the meantime, you can read more about algal blooms and what to look out for here: https://www.lawa.org.nz/learn/factsheets/potentially-toxic-algae Glenorchy, New Zealand· Read More »
