QLDC INCLUSIONARY ZONING POLICY (SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT)- INVITE TO FOCUS GROUP

Sep 15, 2023

Kia ora Glenorchy Community,

We are reaching out to share updated times available for anyone interested in sharing feedback on existing housing conditions, affordability and the potential social changes that may result from Queenstown Lakes District Council’s (QLDC) Proposed Inclusionary Housing Plan Change.

This plan change proposed to include inclusionary housing rules in the Proposed District Plan (PDP). These rules would require most new residential subdivisions and developments to pay a contribution to a registered Community Housing Trust, providing them with an ongoing funding stream to provide access to affordable housing that would be retained as a community asset.

We’ve commissioned Beca to undertake a Social Impact Assessment of the Proposed Inclusionary Housing Plan Change. Social Impact Assessment is the common framework used in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally to analyse, monitor and manage the potential social consequences of changes to policy and/or developments. Part of this process involves interviewing stakeholders in the community to get their views on the proposed plan change.

To get the conversation going, we’re hosting focus groups in person in the following locations over the next few weeks, but if any of the times don’t suit or you’d prefer to share your thoughts on the phone or online, we’re keen to chat to you in whatever way works best.
