GLENORCHY COMMUNITY CHOIR

Mar 10, 2016 - 7:00pm

Starting: 7pm Thursday, March 10 in the supper room.

It will be every Thursday, (except for the first Thursday of every month when the supper room is used for the Gy Community meeting). No charge.

In the spirit of community choirs: no auditions; you don't need to read music; you just need to bring your vocal chords and your joy in singing.

If you can get in the door, you're in.

We'll be learning four-part harmonies. Some of the music will be gospel, with simple, beautiful harmonies. We'll learn the parts with keyboard support, (the lovely Marie Ferris will be there when she can) and then it will be a cappella.

Start at 7pm with a 10-minute warm up, then 50 minutes of singing.

Im being supported by the wonderful people at Songleaders who run community choirs throughout NZ. If there's enough interest, these excellent people will come to us later in the year for singing workshops.

PLS NOTE:

Joanna had a few questions and comments re this post. Here are the responses to the two most common, in case others have the same concerns:
1. "I like singing; but I'm such a terrible singer I wouldn't go to a choir."
Everything improves with practice and singing is no exception. Community Choirs are the perfect solution - you're singing with the support of a group in a relaxed environment.
2. "I can't go every week."
No problemo. Turn up when you can.

Venue: SUPPER ROOM, GLENORCHY HALL
