A WORKSHOP FOR SINGERS IN LUGGATE!

Sep 3, 2016 - 9:30am to 4:30pm

You are warmly invited to join in some more singing in Luggate on Saturday 3 September when I’m offering a workshop in two parts.

The morning session, for leaders and potential leaders (9.30am-12.30pm) will be useful for both experienced and beginner leaders of community singing and for anyone who hasn’t tried taking a lead, but would like to find out how to go about it, and/or give it a try. Some helpful hints and support can make the idea of getting out front a lot less daunting! We’ll focus on aspects of song leading which could include the leader’s role, what to do out front, conducting, warm ups etc. - or whatever is most relevant to participants. (See my request below.)

The afternoon session for leaders and singers (1.30-4.30pm )is for anyone keen to have a sing, as we did at the Luggate workshop in March. It’s also an opportunity for any of the morning participants to teach a song to the group – or simply to join in with the singing if you don’t feel ready to step out front this time.

The day will be informal, non-stressful, and fun. It’s a good chance just to enjoy singing with others, and perhaps to get some new repertoire.

Please let me know if you’d like to come to the morning session, and what would be most helpful for you.  Here are some ideas:

- how to lead a song / starting and stopping / letting your singers know what you want…

- how to teach a song / preparation / teaching parts ….

- using your voice out front

- what do I do with my hands?

- warm ups – why bother? / new ideas

- repertoire

- how to arrange a song – or where to get help

- getting singers focused at the start of a practice

- anything else you’d like to cover

Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested. I look forward to hearing from you.
