QUEENSTOWN CATALYST: Divided Society, Shared Government: A Lebanese Solution for the Middle East
Apr 6, 2016 - 5:30pm
- $5 at the door
Lebanon’s unique power sharing arrangement – designed to reconcile a deeply divided society and a potential model for government elsewhere in the troubled Middle East – will be discussed by University of Otago PhD student Eduardo Abou Ltaif.
A Druze from Lebanon, Eduardo has first-hand experience of the pros and cons: “This model is the only way to deal with societies that are polarised and pluralised. It’s a conflict resolution strategy to manage the differences among ethnic and religious groups”.
