AURORA ENERGY GLENORCHY COMMUNITY UPDATE

May 10, 2020

Following on from our community meeting in Glenorchy last year, we are pleased to provide an update to you on the work we are undertaking in Glenorchy in the coming weeks.

As discussed at the meeting in July, we have investigated options to minimise the disruption when a power outage occurs in Glenorchy. One of the options that was discussed was the installation of recloser switches, which are effectively remote controlled switches. In the event of a fault, reclose switches can be set to close when the fault has been isolated therefore restoring power to unaffected customers.

I emailed you in mid-March regarding work that was scheduled to occur in Glenorchy on the 1st April. Unfortunately, due to New Zealand moving into Alert Level 4 Lockdown, we were unable to undertake our planned works on this date.

As New Zealand has now moved to Alert Level 3, our crews are out and about on the network undertaking essential maintenance and safety work.

The work we had planned for your community is essential work and has been re-scheduled to Tuesday 26th May. This will result in an outage, from 8.00am to 4.00pm.  You will be notified through the usual outage notification channels, but we wanted to provide you with an update ahead of these notifications being sent from your retailers.

With many people still based at home, our teams are rigorously checking all work to try and minimise the disruption to the community. With this is mind, we are taking this opportunity to undertake as much work on the network in the Glenorchy area as possible. On Tuesday 26th May, you will see a number of crews undertaking maintenance on lines, replacing poles, installing a recloser and customer related work.

We appreciate that you might have concerns regarding this work and I ask that you please contact me via return email or call me on the below number to discuss further. We are taking all steps available and are working closely with our contractors to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum and outages do not last longer than absolutely necessary.

Kind Regards, Elly
