THE MUSEUM GROUP UPDATE

MUSEUM UPDATE:

What have we done so far?

  • Found some land.
  • Researched what works in other museums and clarified what will be our points of difference so that we offer a unique experience that reflects the history of the Head of the Lake.
  • We are working with 2 architects to develop concept drawings for the site. We are most grateful to William Fulton and Hamish Muir for their generous donation of time and energy.
  • We are developing a ‘photo mural’ that offers an insight into what makes us who we are and advertises that we are in the process of building a new museum. If you have any old or more recent photos that you feel capture some of that essence PLEASE get in touch with Leslie, Kate or Amanda. We are very grateful to the GCA for offering us funding towards this project which should be on display by the new year.
  • We have developed an ‘app’ which leads individuals around the main historic sites in the township. Obviously we haven’t got the skills to do this and we are hugely indebted to 2Blether which is Pat and Wendy Eardley without whom absolutely none of this would have happened. They are even translating it into Chinese.
  • Fundraising is ongoing…..and we’ve still got a long way to go but huge thanks to Rural Women for their very generous donation of the proceeds from their  Mid Winter Dinner and also to Dart River Jet who are donating the proceeds of their ‘locals day’ this weekend.

Other fundraising ideas are in the pipeline.

  • We are researching the stories we wish to tell. This is an enormous task and will be ongoing.
  • We have organised the stabilisation of the Old Woolshed ruins. They are pictured in the drawing above.
