FREE STONE MOSAIC WORKSHOPS

Mar 25, 2017 - 10:00am

Come join for a rare opportunity to learn first-hand how to make your own pebble mosaic stepping stones from internationally-acclaimed landscape artist Jeffrey Bale, currently working as artist-in-residence at Camp Glenorchy.

On Saturday, 25th March, at 10am and again at 2pm, Jeffrey will be leading two sessions of a public workshop called “Secrets to Creating Your Own Pebble Mosaic Garden Stepping Stones,” at Mrs Woolly’s General Store.

Registration is free at Eventfinda.co.nz, by stopping by the Store to register, or by emailing Fiona@MrsWoollysGeneralStore.co.nz

In between the two workshops a guided tour of Camp Glenorchy will be offered at 12:30pm. The tour will highlight the stone mosaic work Jeffrey has been doing outside the cabins, as well as the Scheelite Campfire Shelter by Glenorchy artist Dan Kelly, and a sneak-peek at the interior of one of the cabins.

Mrs Woolly’s hot, famous BBQ breakfast buns will be available starting at 9:30am, and the General Store has just introduced large-size coffee drinks for those who like a little extra oomph in their mornings to go with their BBQ breakfast bun or fresh-from-the-kitchen pastries

Workshop content will include learning about the unique geology at the head of Lake Wakatipu and its tributary rivers the Dart and the Rees as well as tips and tricks for sourcing, finding the right shapes, composing the stones for your stepping stone, handling materials and completing something you’ll be proud to admire in your garden for years.
