WHEN: Saturday 1st October
TIME: 10.00 – 3.30pm
What to bring: lunch, insect repellent
COST: $25 for the course which includes two rootstock tree
You can pre-order more rootstock trees at $5 per tree
Robert and Robyn will bring rootstock and 70-80 different varieties of apples to graft with their stories (they will be up on their website soon) for people to choose.
If there are any local old or good roadside apples now (next two weeks) is the time to get cuttings of this years growth, label them and put them in wet newspaper in a plastic bag and keep them in the fridge until grafting time. You need 15cm of a branch if possible and that make 2 trees.
The course will also include a visit to the orchard of Arcadia where we look at how to take cuttings from old trees where new growth is minimal.
